Dear Mahanoy Township Authority Customer,

Mahanoy Township Authority does not have record of your water service pipe material.

Mahanoy Township Authority is updating our records to continue to work towards improving the water distribution system and progress toward a lead-free water supply for our customers. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) in January 2021, which requires all community water systems to submit a service line inventory to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) by October 16, 2024.

Therefore, we must confirm the number of lead service lines in the Authority’s system. Although our initial review leads shows the system contains minimal amounts of lead service lines, we are asking customers to help work towards improved water system, by assisting us in identifying the service lines. We ask for your help in identifying the type of service line you have leading to your home. We prioritize the safety of our customers and would like to verify and confirm the types of water service lines from the water main in the street to the meter that serves you.

Service line material can be identified by you or an employee of the Mahanoy Township Authority. If you would like to identify the material of your service line, please find the attached reference guide to walk you through the proper steps of identification and how to report your pipe materials to the Mahanoy Township Authority.

If you would like someone to identify your water service line material, please call Carla at (570) 773-0650 to schedule an appointment between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. The appointment will take approximately 10 minutes and require access to your water meter, usually located in your basement.

All customers participating in this survey by October 10, 2024, are subject to receive a $10 rebate on your last scheduled bill of 2024.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation,

Mahanoy Township Authority
